Percentage of a number- Two ways to solve   

1) set up a proportion        %     =   part           

                                           100        whole

2) change the percentage to a decimal and multiply, this can only be used when the whole is given and you are looking for a part.

                                                                                  

Ratio-     Comparison of two quantities      

  1. ex) there are 2 boys and 6 girls riding the carnival ride. What is the ratio of boys to girls?

         2:6   or 1:3     (boys goes first then girls because boys is before the word to)  

Divisibility Rules

Here is a copy of the Rules of Divisibility to help on Homework. Remember the SUM of the digits means you have to add up the digits that form the number prior to dividing.  
ex)   is 99 divisible by 3?      9 +9 =18   18 divided by 3 is 6. 
    Yes, 99 is divisible by 3

Figure Me Out Posters

Students had a great time collaborating today getting to "Figure Out" things about their classmates! Posters turned out great, so proud of all my kiddos!!
